What Does Astrology Have to Do with Roe vs. Wade?
What does Astrology have to do with Roe vs. Wade?
Have you been meaning to find…well… meaning? If you’re like me — today’s announcement that Roe vs. Wade has been overturned by the Supreme Court has probably got you feeling all kinds of emotions.
As an astrologer, when challenges happen, the first thing I do now, is look to the planetary transits to find some answers. So, from an astrological perspective, I wanted to share some thoughts with you on what will be remembered as a solemn day in US history.
Hopefully after following me, you will have learned that Astrology is not just your horoscope. Actually, it gives us insights into the human psyche (fascinating, I know!) The personality traits and characteristics that we identify with when we read our horoscopes are seen by astrologers as correlating with psychological predispositions that make up who we are as humans. Not only are these psychological patterns part of our individual makeup — but there is also a collective expression of this as well.
This is to say that not only do we see Astrology mirror our experience as individuals, but it is also correlated with generational patterns and shifts in culture over generations. For insights into the collective experience, one way to look at the generational trends is through the planet Pluto — known as the planet of transformation, death and rebirth.
People (like me) born between 1971 and 1984 were born with Pluto in Libra. While many Pluto Libras were raised under fears of nuclear war, in comparison to our parents — those born with Pluto in Virgo (1956–1971) or Pluto in Leo (1939–1956) — we had a relatively stable go of it. In terms of civil and women’s rights, each generation over the past 100 years has built on the successes and failures of the one before. While I am disheartened by today’s news, I am hopeful that the next generation will continue the upward trajectory — toward a world where people are treated equally with humanity. We are already seeing the changes, and while there may be challenges along the way, the trajectory toward a more just world is inevitable.
Currently Pluto is in Capricorn until 2024 and with Neptune in Pisces through 2024 as well, my younger daughter’s generation will be poised to bring humanity through a desperately needed transformation, based on a mix of inherent responsibility and an innate connection to the spiritual.
When all else fails, the stars are here to guide us. We just have to look up.
